In this Physics tutorial, you will learn:
We explained in the previous tutorial that, thanks to the discovery made by Hubble on the expanding universe, the science of Cosmology experienced a revolution in its conception about this universe. The conclusion reached was that everything has evolved from an initial stage (Big Bang) where thermodynamic parameters had very large values. The Big Bang was considered the most suitable and reasonable model that describes the origin and the later stages of the history of the Universe.
The Big Bang model describes the development of the Universe by starting from the instants immediately after the explosion occurred to the present day. It also introduces possible versions about the future of this giant structure of celestial bodies.
According to this model, at the beginning of existence, the universe was characterized by very large densities and temperatures. It was like a giant fireball (not just a small point of condensed matter, as we now like to call it). After the Big Bang, the density of the universe decreased with time because of the increase in volume of space containing matter. This resulted in a decrease in temperature as well. Hence, temperature represents one of the parameters used to describe various stages of the Universe development, as different stages have had different temperatures. On the other hand, temperature is closely related to energy, which is the key factor that determines the type of interaction between the particles involved in a thermodynamic process. Therefore, the Big Bang model explains not only the developmental stages of the universe in a chronological order, but it also tells us about various phenomena and events occurred in different stages of its history.
