Discover Physics with free Physics Revision Notes and Physics Calculator: Fluid Density. This image shows the properties and fluid density formula for the Fluid Density. The Fluid Density Calculator will calculate the density of a mixture of fluids (up to three) when masses and volumes are given. You can choose the number of substances you wish to include to calculate the density of the liquid

Density of liquid Formula and Calculation

The formula below illustrates the structure for the calculation for three fluids within a liquid. For each additional liquid added, another instance of Mass and Volume is added to the appropriate part of the formula. The Density of liquid will illustrate the exact formula used for each fluid component as you alter the number of fluids present in the liquid.

ρ = m1 + m2 + m3/V1 + V2 + V3

How to calculate the Density of liquid

The following process details how to calculate the density of liquid which contains one or more fluids/substances using the Density of liquid calculator, alternatively you can use the Density of liquid formula above to calculate the Density of liquid manually.

  1. Select the number of places that you wish to calculate the formula and all its components to
  2. Choose the number of substances that the liquid contains (up to a maximum of 100)
  3. Choose the unit of measurement for the calculation
  4. Then foreach of the fluids/substances that are within the liquid:
    1. [Optional] Enter the fluid or substance name (this is useful if you intend to print or email your results for later reference)
    2. Enter the mass of the fluid/substance
    3. Enter the volume of the mass/fluid
