Uniform Motion Calculator

The Uniform Motion Calculator is provided in support of our Physics Tutorials on Dynamics and Kinematics which explores Motion, Position, Reference Points, displacement in 1, 2 and 3 dimensions, speed, velocity, acceleration and more with practical working examples and formula. A list of the supporting Dynamics Physics Tutorials is available at the bottom of this page. This calculator will calculate:

  1. The total displacement in one, two or three dimensions when the initial and final coordinates are given
  2. The average velocity when the moving time is given

Displacement (Δr)
Velocity (v)

Please note that the formula for each calculation along with detailed calculations is shown further below this page. As you enter the specific factors of each uniform motion calcualtion, the Uniform Motion calculator will automatically calculate the results and update the formula elements with each element of the uniform motion calculations. You can then email or print this uniform motion calculation as required for later use.

We hope you found the Uniform Motion Calculator useful, if you did, we kindly request that you rate this calculator and, if you have time, share to your favourite social network. This allows us to allocate future resource and keep these Physics calculators and educational material free for all to use across the globe.

Note

  1. When entering coordinate figures you can use metres or kilometres but ensure you use the same measurement for each (so, if you have 1km and 250 meteres, use 1000 and then 250 to ensure the same units are entered in each input)
  2. When entering the movement time you can use seconds or hours, simply remember that the calculated velocity is subsequently m/s or km/h

Displacement Formula and Calculation

∆r = √(x - x0)2 + (y - y0)2 + (z - z0)2
∆r = √( - )2 + ( - )2 + ( - )2
∆r =

Velocity Formula and Calculation

v = ∆r/t
v = /
v =
